Low Fat Diet Plan | Lose Weight Diet Recipes

Essentially the idea behind a low fat diet plan is that Weight loss occurs on these very low fat, high fibre, mainly vegetarian diets because much less of such foods is required in order to feel satisfied. Some low fat diet plans include:

  • Ornish Diet
  • Pritikin Diet

Ornish low fat diet plan

This diet works on the principle that by virtually eliminating fat from your diet, you get fewer calories without eating less. The diet is plant based and excludes all cooking oils and animal products, except skim milk and low fat yoghurt. A sample menu of the ornish diet is:

Breakfast

  • Glass of orange juide
  • Bowl of cereal with fresh berries and low fat plain yoghurt

Lunch

  • Cubes of firm tofu with cooked broccoli florets, potatoes and chickpeas
  • garlic bread
  • green salad
  • apple

Dinner

  • Bruscetta with sun dried tomatoes
  • Pasta shapes tossed with red capsicum, greens such as spinach, cannellini breans, a little chopped garlic and grated lemon zest
  • Grilled asparagus dressed with lemon and caper vinaigrette, and freshly ground black pepper
  • Green salad
  • Peaches poached in red wine

Snacks

  • 1-2 snacks of fresh fruit or raw vegetables

Pritikin low fat diet plan

This is a low fat, primarily vegetarian diet based on whole grains, fruit and vegetables. The idea of this diet is that you can eat a much greater volume of low fat foods and feel satisfied without taking in too many calories. This diet does not need for you to count calories or limit your portion sizes. A sample menu of the Pritikin diet is:

Breakfast

  • Bowl of cinnamon flavoured porridge cooked with skin milk, topped with sliced banana and blueberries

Lunch

  • Grilled chicken breast with steamed corn on the cob
  • Green salad with fat free dressing

Dinner

  • Fat free vegetarian chilli with steamed brown rice
  • Tomato and cucumber salad with a balsamic vinegar dressing
  • Fresh pineapple slices or pineapple canned in juice

Snacks

  • Baked tortilla chips with a tomato salsa

There are other low fat diet plans including the Low fat living diet and the Fatmanslim diet plan but these two are generally considered better for you in terms of daily food intake and weight loss.
